Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (HR 4647)
Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA) is primarily aimed at proactive, non-regulatory wildlife conservation work. RAWA would authorize up to $1.3 billion annually from energy and mineral development on federal lands and waters. If Congress were to appropriate the full amount, Oregon would see $26 million per year, contingent on identification of the required 25% match ($6.5 million/year, or $13 million/biennium). A component of the funding may be used for wildlife dependent recreation.
