Land and Water Conservation Fund

Since it was enacted by Congress in 1964, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has been a dominant funding source for outdoor recreation in the United States. In Oregon alone, LWCF has directly funded over $305 million in projects. With the passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 (PL 115-141), LWCF-funded programs saw an investment of $436 million. Unfortunately, as of September 30, 2018, the authorization for this tremendous pipeline for recreational funding has lapsed. Oregon Outdoors is working with others to advocate for permanent reauthorization of the LWCF, and to seek full funding.
